Has anyone ever modified a cheap cd-player to add digital output using a SPDIF transmitter or something of the likes?
I believe the old audio amateur mag had an article on that issue. You can look for back issues at www.audioxpress.com
The Issues you want are from 98, issues one and two. The article follows the design and building of an add on digital output for cd players that covers aes/ebu, spidf and optical. This is a completed and tested design with parts lists and suppliers. There was artwork available at one time for the pcb. Hope this helps
Scroll to bottom of page, on left is audio electronics backissues. Year 98 is what you want. They still have them. The whole year is 28.00 plus shipping.

Thanks for the info, I am glad to know people have done it. I really don't feel like spending a bunch of money on a new CD player just for digi-out.
