i put in carbon pot instead of a ceramic resistor in a tweeter circuit since i didn't have the value i was looking for, and was able to dial it in with the pot. it sounded very pleasant, like a carbon resistor should. so i decided to keep it in. now i'm unable to sleep at nights thinking about the potential thermal drift the pot could be suffering, gradually changing the sound of the speaker. should i worry, or?...
Hi,
Variable resistors in x/o's should be wirewound, without exception.
I would worry, I don't think it will last well at all long term.
rgds, sreten.
