Quite a few threads here about using computer CDROM loader for home audio. Personally, I'm turned off by having to build/buy a controller (and somewhat by the aesthetics).
Has anyone looked into using a slot-loader from a car audio system? Something like this, for example? Obvious challenge is unlike IDE CDROM, there's probably no standardization for this kind of drive. So how to control it: simple switches, or is a microcontroller required? No idea myself; just curious if anyone has experimented.
