Quick question about PPI 2050AM amps.I have 2 of them...one was made tail end of 1992...the other was made the beggining of 1993.The 1992 model has P125N06 mosfets in it with 472 ohm gate resistors and the 1993 has P25N05E mosfets in it with 472 ohm gate resistors ...What is the difference between the 2 sets of mosfets??? Also...which is better...one amp has BDT81/82 output transistors and the other one has 2N6487 and 2N6490??? Any and all answers are greatly appreciated!

Are you sure the transistors are marked 125N06?
The crosses that Mouser gives for the 125N06 have ~3000pf of input capacitance. The 25N06 has less than 1000pf of input capacitance. Unless other changes were made, the power supply probably wouldn't be able to drive the 125N06 FETs through the 470 ohm gate resistors.

I just rechecked the mosfet part #'s and yes they are 125N06 and the gate resistors checked at .465 kOhm.I bought this amp from my brother about 10 years ago and he got it from a very reputable car audio dealer here in Windsor.Neither me or my brother have made any changes to this amp.It came this way from PPI.
