Canada-USA shipping : custom

Do not know if I should know the answer. How does the
custom clearance work for shipment from Canada to
USA. I am in Mumbai and would like to purchase some
parts from Parts Connexion and then ship the packet to
some USA address of a courier service who will then bring
the packet to me in India. I am worried if one has to pay
some custom duty for the shipment or some regulation
issue from Canada to USA. In that case the courier
service would not just bother and my packet will be lost.

If the package is shipped through the postal service there shouldn't be any fees involved other than the cost of postage. Shipping through a service like UPS might charge a brokerage fee. I have no first hand experience with that though since I always use the postal service.

Here in the US there isn't any kind of tax on imported goods. The brokerage fees the other couriers charge are for their own greedy interests.

Your advice indeed is very helpful. May be I will just get the parts directly shipped to India by the postal service. The other well-known courier services are very expensive...
