I am in the beginning process of building the Kirishima. Meaning I've messed up my first set of plywood and regrouping. I was about to repurchase 4x8 baltic birch but I saw in one of the threads you had noted you've switched to the Murphy plywood. I was wondering which core material you like (veneer,fiberply,calibrated, or composite). I would like to purchase a non-chinese made piece like the Murphy. Thanks for your input.

The Murphy ply we use is just over 18mm (you'll need to adjust the plans to make sure everything fits) and has 15 plies.

Eric - this is one of those cases where a registered trademark brand name (ApplePly) has come to be used as a generic trade name, with at the very least, the possibility for innocent confusion. Other examples might be "Corian", "Arborite / Formica", "Medite" ,etc.
The short answer is that the particular product we're using is an all veneer core platform, "shop" grade C2 with maple face veneers-not rated for architectural finishes but I've often found more than adequate for clear coating.
It's labeled as Murphy Multi-ply - with an alphabet soup of production codes stamped on each end of the sheet, which might not be of much help.
We happen to be on the west coast, within a couple of day's commercial transit from the Oregon mill, and one of our several local distributors stocks several of the Murphy products or will mill order in the 15mm that we use.

The nominal 3/4" measures out at 18.5mm, the 5/8" at 15.25mm. Including the face veneers, they have 15 and 13 plies respectively
FWIW, I've been told by local sales reps for several different brands that the core platforms for many of these products are imported, but from across the other ocean - IOW Eastern Europe.
Note that nationwide distribution of sheet good products is not uniform, and depending on your geographic location any particular manufacturer may not have local representation. The big box building supply stores can certainly not be relied up to carry higher quality plywoods, but never say never.

I did contact the regional Murphy rep and he pointed me in the right direction to a lumberyard about 1hr + from me. I called the lumberyard and it turned into a weird phone conversation where I was talking to one guy and he was explaining what they had in stock and how the could get it to my front door. Then someone else took the phone and that's when it took the weird turn. He started off "Who am I talking too?" in a fairly aggressive tone and it didn't improve. One of those conversations where you ask yourself "how am I sounding, what am I saying" for this person to respond in this manner, or does this person have some issues. Plus I'm just a civilian looking for 3 sheets. Anyway I'll get the BB from the first lumberyard. They were great and the BB was too. I do like the Murphy history and all so I may look for another supplier in the future when we build my son's speakers.

Has anyone worked with the 1 1/2" thick version of ApplePly? Is there an advantage to using this very thick plywood on Pensils?
