Building PA Speakers (HF/LF Ratio)

I've been working in Audio as a hobbyist for the last 20 years, so i'm pretty familiar with it all. Having said that I've spent the last year repairing speakers for a company i work for in my spare time.

So, onto the question ... i'm going to have a go at putting together some good quality PA speakers to use on my own rig .. is there some form of calculation you can do .. or a general rule of thumb for sizing woofers and HF Drivers to balance sound ?

Apologies if this has been asked already, but i did search and couldn't find anything.

Thanks
Dave

Yes, 'sound is round' and expands exponentially, so one can accurately calculate everything; balanced sound power, driver size for a given BW, matching XO points, all based on the means of a given total BW's sound power; and yes, IIRC I've posted all this in bits n' pieces, though to date if anyone was interested in any of it I'm not aware, so haven't bothered to save the links.

Regardless, I'd planned to put it all together in a doc one of these days, so guess I will as soon as time permits or just wade through searching 'GM'. Note that you'll find that other than the early pioneers these haven't been followed to any degree I've noticed due to marketing/personal gain reasons.
