Blown amplifier

My home theater sub will hit full xmax and hum as soon as I plug it in. I've tested another speaker on another amp with no issue. I'm pretty new to troubleshooting electrics. Does anyone want to share some pointers on what I could test inside the amp? I'd like to learn some things in repairing it and would also like to fix only what is broken, if possible. Thank you in advance.

Check for DC across the output terminals, with the woofer disconnected.

Hi foolange,

Find a buddy that knows something about electronics. Don't just stab around in a subwoofer amplifier, modern switching power supplies can be a bit of a bear...and quite dangerous. I know, that's not a lot of help. Good Luck 🙂.
