Blaupunkt cassette fader issue

Hi I have a Blaupunkt Montreal SQR 48 cassette radio on the bench.
There's an issue is with the fader, it works fine full front or full back setting but reduces the vol output to zero when centred? So it like it's working in reverse?
Any thought on what could be causing the issue?

Have you cleaned the pot? If not, use DeoxIT.

Cleaned it with deoxit already, no change.

it seem to me that there is an error in the speakers wiring. I suggest to check them.

Speakers are fine

Only audio output affected, lights don't dim, etc?

This would be a strange failure. Is this why it came in for repair?

It came in for a belt, very peculiar.
All speaker outputs have clear audio but will only play front or rear not front and rear together.

Is it possible that this is normal for this model?

Put it back in the car to see what the owner says about the fader operation.

I used a lot of Blaupunkt in the 80's, all I encountered had standard faders. But the late 80's internal amps weren't very potent, the speaker impedance may be lower than it likes.
