Hi to all!
I am thinking to try out batteries in my audio projects. I wonder if enyone has some experiences with batteries...
Best regards,
Primoz

just to show you what I mean -- here's the DC to 100kHz noise of a 9V battery -- the scale is 50 uV (uses a Tek ADA400 amplifier)
and here's the noise of a 50 ohm BNC terminator, same bandwidth:
An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

Dear jackinnj,
so you suggest that a good classic power supply tend to sound better then battery p.s.?

a battery will have lower noise than most standard, off the shelf regulators, you just have to replace batteries every once in a while. even though the noise can be "out of band" -- meaning that it is inaudible -- it can still screw with the preamplifier circuitry.
If you don't want to build discrete regulatory circuitry, Texas Instruments and Linear Technologies make some very good low noise off-the-shelf regulators. If you want to build very high performance regulators search the forum for "super regulators".
there are some who like the sound of a regulated power amplifier -- and there are some high end companies who build expensive regulated power amplifiers. I will let the jury decide whether it's a good idea.
