I'm a musician putting together a combo amp for guitar & vocal. I've chosen a class D amp which is designed to output to a speaker cabinet anywhere
between 4 and 8 Ohms. So, to get the most power out, I want to run it to a speaker arrangement for 4 Ohms. The speaker I've chosen (Celestion BN12-300S) is available in both 4 and 8 Ohms.
I already have some 4-inch 60 watt 8 Ohm Faital drivers. Ideally, I'm hoping to use one or two of these Faitals to handle
the higher frequencies in a crossover arrangement with either the 4 or 8 Ohm Celestion, so that amp is seeing 4 Ohms.
Any advice would be much appreciated.

No. You mentioned you wanted the amp to see 4 ohms, but this is not important between the highs and lows.
Sensitivity is how loud they play. This specification is of more interest between the highs and lows than impedance.

Thanks. To start off, I'm thinking of this. Buy the 4 ohm Celestion. Wire two of the 8 ohm Faitals in parallel to give 4 ohms. Then link up with a standard passive crossover, and see how it sounds. Does that sound reasonable?
Faital 4FE32, 4 inch, 60 watt, 8 ohm.
Amp gives 25 watts (Quilter Superblock US -- manufacturer has told me it will drive the Celestion fine).

Re:'standard passive crossover' - no such thing, it depends on the drivers used;
I suggest you start with at single 68uF capacitor to the parallel faitals, and see how that sounds

Faitals are 91dB each, two in parallel is 97dB, so good match for Celestion.
25W is enough to hit over 110dB SPL, but well below drivers limits. All drivers have nice and smooth response.
So, simple 1st order crossover between 500-800Hz would be my choice.
