B&W 220i tweeter blown,replacement ??
Hi all
Have blown a tweeter(TP26) in my much loved B&W DM220i speakers and need your help on a replacement.Does anyone out there have a spare TP26 or speaker/speakers they would like to sell me????.Other than that can anyone recommend a suitable replacement without having to mess around with the crossover.Peerless and Vifa have been mentioned on the web but no model numbers.

Hi,
The coil dome is field replacable, I have fixed one pair this way years
ago. However at a later point B&W refused to supply the spare part
saying the tweeter had to be sent them, something about "dirt"
getting into the magnetic gap, piffle. Give them a try for the part.

I carefully removed the coil dome and the wires are burnt and some of them have been pulled away so i think that is out of the question.I think my only short term option is to find the technical specs for the TP26 and match up as close to a tweeter like peerless or vifo.I have just spoken to B&W USA and they said that B&W wont release technical specs on individual speakers,only the speaker unit so no go there.A guy on another web site told me he replaced a TP26 tweeter with a Peerless DT115 (810665) and the audio was pretty close to original but could notice slight change in treble.I see that this tweeter has been discontinued though.Can you advise me on what specs i need to look at to get something close??.Buy the way, I'm still looking on ebay and audioGon for speakers and parts but i'm not holding my breath. The tweeter is repairable with a part.
I have done it.
Looks something like this as I recall :
