is it safe to attenuate a solid state guitar amp with an attenuator/powerbrake (with line out) for tube amps IF the objective is simply to get a line out signal at the power amp level? That is, I am NOT using the attenuator to push the amp hard, but only enough to get the line out signal from the powerbrake. The amp is a hughes & kettner hybrid, the amp has two power transistors tip 147 (schematic shows on page two, bottom right area).
Any thoughts? Thanks!

It will be fine. power brake is just a dummy load with an attenuator and a di transformer.
You can use Hughes Kettner Red Box direct box, it can take speaker level signal and give you perfect level and EQ out to be sent straight to mixing desk.
Thank you. That's what I thought, but wasn't sure 🙂It will be fine. power brake is just a dummy load with an attenuator and a di transformer.
although to be fair, I used the older models of the Red Box. I see they have a new one, maybe that's a lot betterYou can use Hughes Kettner Red Box direct box, it can take speaker level signal and give you perfect level and EQ out to be sent straight to mixing desk.
We are searching for attenuator/power brake - to -line out solutions/options and Red Box is compared to thatThanks. Oh yeah, used the Red Box many years ago, but it can't compete today with impulse responses. I have never found any analog speaker sim to be satisfactory, but I guess it depends on the type of music too, might work with cleaner type of sounds. 🙂
Nobody mentioned IRs which is something completely different.
Please keep it pears to pears and apples to apples.
Now, don't get fancy, and don't assume that you are correct, because your 'argument', which is nothing more than a simple claim, can be easily defeated:
First, that I didn't mention IRs at the time, doesn't mean I can't do so later, when and however I want. I didn't mention it because it was irrelevant at the time when I asked the question. Sure, I was asking about the line out. You mentioned the Red Box, and I said what I said. So WHAT?
Secondly, line out is line out. Yeah, I want to use IRs. I didn't mention it before, and I mentioned it later. So WHAT?
Who are you to impose gag orders? Don't go around as if you owned the forum and I were the lowly idiot who has to do things by YOUR book.
Just for your information, I am just a musician. I don't care if something is analogue or digital, but whether or not it achieves my objective. If the forums allows here no musicians but ONLY people who do electronics, ask them to state it clearly on the website, and don't blow your smoke on me. I came here to ask about something I don't understand, but don't tell me what I can say or what I cannot. I'll say and mention whatever I want; if you don't like it, find something you'll like.
This thing is very common: you ask a question in a forum, and all of a sudden you get the 'This is OUR forum' user. No, you are just a user. You don't own the place. Perhaps you think you do because of your electronics experience. I grant you have it, a lot more than I ever will, but don't let that turn into arrogance.

And another thing...don't assume I am desperate to get the answers: I am not. If something doesn't work for me, I can just get something else. I don't need to fix anything. I won't say another word, and as far as I am concerned, it's case closed. Have a good day.

Not answering what you did NOT ask is not gagging ....,.
