Hi, it's been a little while since I've been fully active here, however, that doesn't mean I haven't had some fun in the meantime 🙂
Mid/late 2014 I built two pairs of speakers. A mMars sealed enclosure for the A7.3, and self-designed sealed enclosure for a pair of [8"] Peerless 835026 HDS-205 drivers. It was my first full speaker build along side putting together an active XO / EQ [miniSharc] and amps... The aim being a low power output [roughly 5 Watt] system for studio style listening in a small[ish] room, with a close-to-flat 20Hz to 20KHz as possible at normal [<90Bd] listening ... That goal was achieved.
Are we ever happy? Almost ...
Loved the speakers but wanted more, specifically, tighter cleaner bass. After throwing a few thoughts at X last year, a new simple design was made. Again fully sealed enclosures for both A7.3 and HDS-205, however, this time I was doubling up on the Peerless.
Think I started cutting MDF in October 2015, finally fitting the drivers just over a week ago [Feb 14].
As yet, I haven't had a chance to do any room EQ or measurements, but can't help but grin like a wild Cheshire Cat every time I sit down to listen to a bit of music. I was worried that within a slightly wider enclosure, the A7.3 would loss some of its imaging, happily, it hasn't. Plus, utilising two 8" drivers per side has done wonders for the lower frequencies. I didn't want louder, just clearer 🙂
