Hello,
Does anyone who owns focal speakers have problems finding where to buy recone kits ?
My JM Lab Laureate Focal speakers need reconing.
I think their voice coils need replacements.
Please do help if anyone knows where to buy it ..
Thank you in advance

Do you need to recone or refoam? 🙂 Is the cone itself damaged, or is the rubber/foam around them rotting?

Hi Erik,
Thankyou for the quick respond.
The rubber foam is in fit condition, no rot, no tears, very good condition.
The cone is in ok condition too, dust cap is ok too.
Problem comes from voice coil, i think.
It produces constant rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrtttttttt voice along with music being played.
Any tips to solve this, Erik ?
Thank you

Hi Erik,
Cone, rubber surround, dust cap are in good condition.
The problem comes from voice coil, i think.
It sounds rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrttttttttttttttttttttt along with the music played.
Any clue to fix it, Erik ?
Thank you 😀

Hi,
Reconing as an option only exists for professional drivers.
Try rotating the driver 180 degrees and leaving it for a while. *
If that doesn't work you pretty much stuffed for hifi drivers.
Rebuilds cost more than the drivers except when they are rare.
rgds, sreten.
* Alternatively prod the surround to see if it makes any
difference. The best point of prodding goes at the top,
if prodding is pushing the cone, bottom if pulling.

Hi sreten,
A-ha... i never thought of that.
I will try this, thank you very much.
So far, all i could try was by pushing around the dust cap with three fingers.
It helped but sometimes i could hear faint rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrttttttttttttt (at early attempt).
Then the noise was gone after lots of repeated 3 fingers pushings.
But i could feel something behind the cone was rubbing back to back just very thin rubs.
