Apogees - Jupiter, Mundorf, Duelund

Hi all, looking at future apogee purchase and crossovers, which come with Mundorf as stock from he restorer I am talking to. Is it ok to mix Duelunds and Jupiters or Mundorf in a crossover. Can mixing cause problems? Has anyone gone from Mundorf to Jupiter? Duelunds are expensive and looking to manage costs. I can progressively replace caps to Duelunds over the years, but can't do the whole shebang to start off with

Well the bad news is that pretty much all boutique capacitors are not as good at their primary role (being a capacitor) than mass market offerings. Any benefit is entirely from their secondary purpose (making you believe they are better).

The good news is that you can save a small fortune and do something that actually makes a difference 🙂

Which apogees are you looking at? I am a peasant with the Hybrid Centaur minors.

I have been totally smitten by a full range and grands I have heard, and if Henk from Netherlands can help me listen to one of his restored Divas, I will go for them (as I don't have the room for the full range). The other alternative is to go active but requires too many amps and I can't stand the heat

I do believe caps change sound because I have Duelunds in my Lampi big 7 and previously have heard the difference between the Jensen and Duelunds and Vcaps. Duelunds far superior. Also the Analysis Audio, an Apogee look alike, sounds way better when its crossovers are upgraded. The US and UK distri both do it.

Belief is a tough thing to break, so won't try. As Mr Lampizator has already weaved his magic.

Not sure which country you are in but in UK reality-audio did have a pair of Duettas in.

If you post in exotics there are a number of apogee owners there.

I am going active, and that doesn't mean heat unless you build hot amplifiers! if you are looking at Divas you certainly have the space!

I have heard the UK duettas. They are very good, but no full range, hence want to hear Henk's Divas. Was at Henk's yesterday, I think I can fit in Divas. They are easier to drive than the FR too. A duetta ribbon is too low and one needs to sit down in the sweet spot all the time, though Henk prefers to raise the Duetta so it sounds the same sitting or standing up. Diva is taller so it works better sitting or standing up, just like the FR
