Hi Jon

Did you get the ovation working?

As far as the Nobos are concerned - don't know much about the Nobo 90. I've used a Nobo 490, and a Nobo 690.

The 490 is 400W, 36V (4000 lumens peak) and uses an EVD bulb.
Basically there are 3 types of EVD bulb - a 50 hour, a 75 hour and a 100 hour (approx £8, £11, £14 respectively) - however, you pay for the longer life model by enjoying slightly less lumens.

Someone on this forum uses a well worn phrase that goes something like "..the bulb that burns twice as bright, burns half as long..." well, there's certainly some truth in that.

Not sure if its the same for all bulb ratings, but just to say that its the lamp you buy that determines it's life span - not the OHP itself.

The Nobo 690 is a 575w 95v Metal Halide monster! 750 hours lamp life. However, these bulbs cost around £90.

Out of interest, I will shortly be auctioning an OHP - a Geha Topvision 575/95 Metal Halide OHP. It's a monster. 11000 lumens - keep an eye out for it, as I will be listing it at a bargain price!

Jon,

Looks like your Nobo 90 is a 250W, 2000 lumens jobbie, which I think will take a standard 75 hour bulb.
I would just add that these bulbs are rated at 75 hours or whatever, but I have been using the same "75 hour" bulb in my OHP since last February - using it for about 5 hours per week on average - except for July/August when I was moving house and my stuff was in storage for 2 months, but that still takes me up to around the 200 hour mark and the bulb is still going strong - no sign of it dimming or flickering at all.

unfortunately i think i destroyed the panel when I got it, I may have shorted it on my made power supply. I am thinking of using a lilliput 7" xga (no touchscreen model) as I cant find any other stripable monitors in the uk. I hope the cr (200:1) is watchable. i bought the ohp fo £60 shipped on ebay.
