Bought one and love it.. But i love SET Amps... This one sounds gorgeous .. And you can't beat the price.. I recently bought one of these 6f3 mini amps ..also a SET and it also sounds almost as good... As with all SET amps you need fairly efficient speakers ..

This is interesting. You can NOT use EL-84s with interconnected pins 1 and 2 (pin 2 is grid). They can only use Chinese and Russian tubes. They must have used pin 1 as a terminal for wiring. These comments seem to be specific to the 2009 models but it doesn't mention later models.

From their text: *POWER TUBE INFO: European EL84s differ in design from their Chinese and Russian counterparts in one important respect: On all European manufactured EL84s, pins 1 and 2 are connected together inside the tube envelope. Chinese and Russian EL84s do not internally link the pins 1 and 2 (witht he exception of the Russian made Genalex Gold Lion). Therefore, when a European manufactured EL84 is plugged into the '09 GLOW amp, the additional connection within the tube envelope in the European design is likely to cause premature failure of the tube.

For the above reason, it is highly recommended that you NOT use European tubes in the 2009 Amp One, as you risk permanent damage to your tubes and possibly the amplifier. All Russian and Chinese manufactured EL84 tubes are compatible with the Amp One, xcept for the Russian manufactured Genalex Gold Lion.
