I would really like to find a nice high efficiency woofer (around 98 db) that is not made from paper. Carbon fibre or polypropylene would be nice. Have any of you guys ever seen one?
thanks

SPH-390TC from Monacor is 96db, PP cone and easily available pretty much anywhere in the world.

I use this Selenium in my Altec A7 cabinets. Cone can withstand the impact of a tennis ball

Hi,
the "composite" in the selenium QCF makes me think paper wrapped up in a black goo to improve it's moisture resistance.

It's actually a woven cone. Like a tarp made of (carbon fiber?) then coated or saturated with the "composite" Nothing organic about it. Feels like hard plastic, quite stiff.

Are you happy with the sound of the Seleniums?
Yes, but I must warn you, it does sound a little plasticy until you reach 10 or so watts. From then on it's hard to tell from any other PA driver. Quite a little workhorse. Too much driver for the A7 cabinets.
