I have 2 different Chinese Amps. 845 SET and EL34 PP
Both use 6N8P in the driver stage.
Both run the 6N8P at about 1 to 1.5 mA anode current.
I was told that these are equivalent to a 6SN7 and putting in 6SN7EH Golds sounded better in both amps or mayne it was the increased (2nd Harmonic?) distortion I liked.
1 to 1.5mA seems very low current for a 6SN7. Can anyone confirm/refute that the 6N8P is indeed a 6SN7 equivalent.
Should I try a few simple resistor value mods to up the current?
Cheers,
Ian

From what I remember, 6N8P is the chinese version of the russian 6N8S (hence the similar naming convention.. i suppose china originally recieved tooling from russia.)
6N8S is, in turn, a 6SN7.
