Amplifier super smooth power sply

would i be able to get away with using some high val caps out of an old computer monitor for smoothing after the bridge?

What application did the perform in the monitor? Their ripple current might not be high enough.

What is 'high value' in your book? Do the voltage specs match those of your amp power supply? We really need to know this to give you some usefull advice.

well it doesn't matter anyway- the caps are inside a sealed unit which would have to be desoldered off of the pcb and then cut open with a dremel. but even the, i'd have to cut throught a presed metal screen
