Amplifier for FF225K

I have just bought a pair of Jericho Horns with fostex FF225K, what suitable amplifiers would you recommend for them? Its a small room so only really need a few watts, i guess Valves are the way forward?

Any particular type of amps to look out for for under £500?

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

Looks like a novel, and probably effective, use of circular felt gliders cut in quarters. I've cut those up before to strecth them for under stuff, but this is some good lateral thinking. A couple different sizes and a biy more qork and you could build serpinski triangles. How do you like them?

First listen today, can only compare with the little ATC SCM-7's in the pic really. From what i remember of the Veravox 5S drivers i had in BiB's, the 225's have more dynamics and 'neater' treble. I cant get over how smooth the 225's are!
Compared to the ATC's, main difference is dynamics and punch, lots of attack and treble energy with electronic music. They seem a little closed in and not as vocal orientated as the Omnes Audio L8 (but they were in OB).

Bass is ok, a bit hit and miss, the ATC's have a very even bass response, the Jericho's seem to go a little lower, but have better punch.

Its a less than ideal amp (Teac SS made by Thule) but does not sound too bright. 🙂

I'd suggest going with 4+W amplifier. 1W is enough for high volume (~90-95dB) if you are at 2meters (6.5feet) but it is always good to have reserve. Still, if you don't listen loud, 1.6-2W will be enough.

Sorry for being offtopic ....

Congrats!

I like the way these (white!) look and the EnABL treatment is nice 😀 Maybe you should think about something prettier for the super tweeter .... a box or something?

Would you please give more comments about the Fostex horn vs ATC speakers?

Thank you in advance!
