Hi all... I have recently put together a 41hz amp4... my first SMD project... those pins are tiny arent they?...
...anyway...
after assembly I am having some problems with getting clean output...
The main symptoms are:
-Tripath getting hot... not too hot to touch, but warm with no source signal... (is it possible for these things to go into self-oscillation?)
-If I get any output signal, it is SEVERELY clipped! very rough sound...
I have access to a 'scope, but since I don't know much about class D amplification (or the mysterious "class-T" for that matter) I don't really know what I'm looking for...
Any suggestions? or general anecdotal advice for troubleshooting tripath chipsets?
One note: in early troubleshooting/ smoke-test, I had a pair of shorted legs on the big tripath chip... with the 24v rail disabled and the 5v section active... VCC shorted to ground... Is it possible that I burned out the chip with only the 5V circuit active? Could this explain the distortion?
Thanks!
-Tony
