Alternative for ROE EYV capacitor

Hello,

I own a YBA amplifier and one capacitor recently failed. I am looking for the same part but can’t find it on the Internet.
The original part is a ROE EYV 4700uF 63v DIN 41238 capacitor (photograph attached).
Would you have any advice for a replacement part which is compatible please?

Kind regards,
Mat

ROE is not the best of manufacturers, and any substitute from a reputable source should work, and be more durable. If you want the same pin configuration, things will become more complicated, and you will probably need to search within German manufacturers, like Epcos

That mounting is not common these days, so you may need to make an adapter board
that fits a standard pcb mount capacitor instead. That would be easy to do.

Here's one type of adapter board already made up, but it may not fit your parts or board.
Can you post a photo of the inside of the amplifier?

If you do that, there are lots of options. Seems like a low ESR, high ripple current type is needed.

Recent electrolytic capacitors are often much shorter than older types.
Measure the space between the board and the inside top of the cover to see how much room there is.

There are a total of eight of these?

Not much extra space in there. Replacing all of them is a judgement call if the rest are ok,
but I probably would if the first capacitor leaked or shorted.
Also, since exact capacitor types come and go, you may just want to do all of them at once.

Can you list the exact dimensions of the bad one, height and diameter, not including the terminals?
Also the terminal footprint on the main board is needed to make the adapter boards.
I think that eight individual small adapter boards would be the best approach, rather than one large board.

If you look at the holes in the PCB are you sure there are not already holes with 10mm distance you could use for mounting a standard 10mm pitch 2-leg snap in capacitor? Then there would be no need for an adapter. Capacitors have shrunk and 4700µF 63V can be 25mm diameter 37mm height, https://www.digikey.se/sv/products/detail/cornell-dubilier-electronics-cde/380LQ472M063J032/6141863 The capacitor may not end up in the exact center position of the old capacitor. If no 10mm pitch holes are to be found the pads look big enough to permit new holes to be drilled if you don´t mind modifying the PCB.

Finally I contacted YBA who will ship to me the same capacitor. I am sure it will fit and I will only need to replace one… easiest way I bet.
In case of another failure, I will definitely move to your proposal with adapters.
Thank you for your support.

And if you decide to replace them all capacitors are available from Mouser:
https://www.mouser.se/ProductDetail/Vishay-BC-Components/MAL205158472E3?qs=G99oyVYclWVsNGO549fm2Q==
They have the same pinout, tell us what you received from YBA it is a good chance it will be the same as the ones from mouser, they seem to be the only ones left with this footprint in stock anyware.

Roederstein was absorbed by Vishay here is the datasheet for the EYV series: https://www.vishay.com/docs/25126/eyv.pdf

And here is the datasheet for the 051/053 PEC-PW that is available now:https://www.vishay.com/docs/28346/051053pe.pdf

Not gonna fit, since old caps = inch, and new caps = metric.
And old German caps = metric, no inches involved.

hello,
did you contacted them via https://www.ybahifi.com/ ?
I have the first YBA power amp (produced at famco) and I am struggling in finding infos/schematic/manuals etc.
I tried to contact them but no answer.
Did they sent you the exact same power caps ? (I need the same)
Thanks !
