maybe an amp befitting of my screen name? Just finished these big boys, each case is about 160lbs empty. Thinking a 16 fet Aleph biased to 6.5A will work just fine. Thats a 1500VA 38V, 2.2mH (10ga), the caps are 100,000uF, each channel will get 8. The 250W resistors there for size reference. Each case consists of 4 heatsinks, they've been tested with flat pack resistors to 280W, it gets comfortably warm. In this case each sink will have 4 transistors mounted, so each sink will need to do ~140W. Cases are 20" h x 20" w x 24" d.

Looking good so far, I hope you live in a very cold place. That amp will warm the whole house in class A.
Northeast (Connecticut) winters can be quite chilly, and my recently built Pass A40 is struggling to keep my man cave warm 😛
Thanks MEGA_amp, hence the reason to go to about 5 times the dissipation.
By the way, how does the Pass A40 sound, one of his earliest BJT designs and still one of the best going around. On my list of projects for 2020.

Thanks MEGA_amp for the A40 info, sorry to hi jack your aleph thread to discuss your A40, but can I ask what output BJT's did you use in your Mega A40 build and where do you buy those Kemet 100,000uF caps from?
No prob, these won't be finished for awhile anyway. I used MJ11016/MJ11015 for outputs on the A40. The boards I used allowed for a LM334 as a current source for the front end, so you don't have to worry about finding that unobtanium jfet. I purchased the caps from mouser.
Thanks again for the A40 info - I will let your thread now get back to your double Mega Aleph super build.
hard to find big caps that can handle the higher voltage...
Looks like 150 watts?
reminds me of my Aleph 2 build. Still running them today - love 'em.
Can't wait to see your finished amps!!! 🙂

Might I recommend some caster wheels mounted to the bottom of your amps?? Now that it's been 10 years since I build my huge Aleph-X monoblocks, I'm wondering if I'll be able to lift them in another 20 years...
Gyuri, I remember when you initially posted your project way back, very nice! Some progress done on one of the blocks, it's looking like casters all around will be needed, pushing 200+ LBS as it is now.
