Advice please re: NAD 7220PE fix

Hi everyone. First off, I'm new here. Second, I inherited my family's old old receiver, which (of course) has a serious problem: the tuner power transformer is no longer functioning, according the repair shop I sent it to. Evidently, this part is no longer available from NAD (proprietary part, as well). Everything else seems to work fine (i.e., power supply, etc.); it just won't operate the tuner or lights. I'd love to keep the unit and have a shot at repairing it.

Any advice? Is there anywhere to pick up spares of these parts?

Thanks in advance!

the repair person...

...told me it was an NAD brand tuner power transformer...he even gave me the part number. I did download a repair manual so I can locate the part (have done so)...but how important is it to get the NAD brand transformer? He made it sound like it was essential (and said NAD no longer sells the part)...hmmm...

(sorry, I'm new at all this) 🙂

It is not necessary to locate the exact NAD part. These kinds of transformers are quite common. Find a 12.6 VAC transformer that fits in the space allocated and it will work. Judging from the bad imformation you were given by the repair person, it would be best to measure the output of the transformer with a voltmeter. Maybe it isn't bad after all.
