AC mains polarity + turntable motor..

Dear helpful people of diyaudio..

I carried out a repair on my Technics SL1200 and in the process of doing so had to cut off the mains plug to remove the main board. Upon attempting to fit a new plug ive found that there is no colour coding on the wires in the AC cord, no stripe down one side, no writing - nothing, just two black wires

My question is does the polarity matter ? If so then i guess i have to take platter off and the plastic guard that covers the main board and try to follow the +ve and -ve from the transformer

If it is going to the mains and two wire, then connect it any way you want. There is no polarity.
