There's a long dead thread out there in which one person suggests selling diy audio, and everybody else tells them its a losing proposition. "Don't quit your day job" is the message. I agree with all the naysayers pov, but they all assume there's a requirement to make a carreer out of it.
I understand that completely. But....
It occurs to me after my third set of diy speakers that often these are a fabulous value - maybe 1/5 of retail for similar quality. Seperately it occues to me that the average DIY maniac is into that never ending search for perfection, and enjoying the process along the way. As a result the more prolific of us want to keep going but have too many speakers around the house. The enabler for making more would be selling the ones we have at a price that covers our costs plus a little bit.
Thus what's needed is a marketplace diy speakers.
The problem with selling them is there's no trusted authority, no "brand", no guarentee, no critical mass and no way for a consumer to objectively judge quality - and without these a consumer would and should be hesitant to buy a pair.
Where ever you have good value there will be buyers. Not in scale here because everything is one of a kind. Still, if some inscrutable party could look at a pair, price them, and then offer them on ebay, and broker the situation - it would seem like it could become an outlet valuable to both sides of the market, and not a carreer for the broker but a way to pick up a few extra bucks.
