A B switch, but not the usual way

I have a pair of front speakers I'm fond of. I have a 5.1 receiver that's good for movies, but not so much for music. Since then I built some tube kits for making music, and I'm very happy with them. My problem is I want to use these speakers in both situations (music and movies, but not at the same time). A guy (experienced-older) at the electronics-pro audio shop, suggested a DPDT toggle switch, which I could easily do. Is this the best way to prevent any errant current from causing problems in the inactive system? And would there be any other concerns to be aware of (noise, loss of signal-Hz)? I know a little but not a lot just looking for a little advice.

4PDT would be better as it would transfer both channels at the same time.

Yes, ensure the switches will handle the voltage and current and ensure they are break before make types. You could also use DPDT relays mounted close to the speakers or in the speakers and a wall wart to power them. Then you only need a SPST switch.
