Looks like the pass bank for an old argon laser. If so, the devices would be fairly high voltage.
definitely a gas laser pass bank. You can be sure that
all the devices are npn transistors and they are rated
for 400 to 500 volts. Total current thru the pass bank
in the range of 35 to 50 amps continuous.

heat sink
The heat sink is the copper bar the trannies are attched to, with the copper tubing carying the water attached underneath...duh

Was it just removed for the shot?

no it isnt from an argon laser
its not from an argon laser psu . if it was why would it have v+ and v_ supply rails? all the argon power supplys i have seen (and i work on lasers every day) have only had single ended supply voltages of around 100 to 130 volts at around 35 amps.

makes a good start for a quasi complementary ClassA stage.
Are one on each bank a driver, controlling the remainder of the bank?

If not from an argon laser, maybe from soething nasty like a shaker table. Nice find , anyway. Are all the devices the same sex? Any discernable part numbers, or are they house numbered parts?
to wrenchone ....
please can you define for me :
?Are all the devices the same sex? Any discernable part numbers, or are they house numbered parts?
ha ha ha and if so could you be kind enough to explain us which sex is which ????
like p transistors is the boy and n transistors is the girl ha ha ha i LOL MY BRAINS OUT !!!! VERY VERY NICE

I've seen similar hardware inside single phase variable voltage - variable frequency AC sources of several kVA for lab use, not motor drive stuff. Big fat LF linear amplifier.
Diya370,
Shall you please type in here the label(s) printed on these TO-3 devices?
They are lookign like some RCA bjts. Am I right?

Hi!
How you know that is output stage of amplifier.
It look like a part of Large PSU, of old server .
Maybe I am wrong!
