#22 solid insulated wire

I dont understand what wire prof. Leach want.#22,#18...? solid insulated wire - this part i understand,but #22.Probaly some american inch measurments wich european cant get it.
Please,if you know what wire is this (in mm) post a msg.

#22 is 0.7mm guage wire.
