I am new to electronics and decided for my first project I would build a small amp found in the june issue of everyday practical electronics magazine. I think I have gathered all the needed parts from www.mouser.com, except that I am unable to find the part listed in the subject of this thread. I have looked in some books that I have and also online and can't seem to figure out what to do about this. I think this capacitor would also be listed as a .1uF? I just can't find it, is there a substitute for this or does someone know where to find it?

Thanks,
Mark

Well that is what I thought, but I can't seem to find it at mouser, and they are a major parts distributor. I know I sound kind of stupid right now, but I have been looking for over an hour for this part and can't find it. If anyone shops at mouser could you please give me some assistance finding this part. I have found other types of capacitors with a capacitance of .1uf but I can't find a ceramic disk one, and I don't konw enough to know if other types are interchangable.

Thanks everyone for your help, I really appreciate it. What I don't appreciate is being insulted by everyone instead of just answering my question. I am just getting started and am trying to learn as much as I can. I have been doing a lot of reading and now I want to work on a few simple projects to get some hand on understanding. Being new to all this I was not sure what capacitors could be replaced for other types if at all.

I read lots of posts here about getting new young people interested to continue the hobby. Well I am one of those new young people. I am not just asking for a handout, or for people to do my work for me. When I post a question I have already done everything in my ability to find the answer for myself. So I take it very offensively when everyone insults me for asking what to you is a simple question. Everyone has to start somewhere, but if you insult every new person like this I think a lot of people will be turned off to diy audio. Maybe I am a moron, fine, but then just don't answer my question, there is no need to make fun of me.

Tiroth,

I am still unsure after following your link that the part listed is a ceramic disc capacitor. It is probobly me not understanding something, but it doesn't specifically say disc packaging, as opposed to the other types. This is why I originally asked the question, because I could find a .1uF capacitor, but I didn't know if it was the right kind. On a side note, great site about rod elliot's project 3A amplifier. I am considering building that amp in the future and your website had a lot of good tips.

Sorry markkanof if I came off insulting, I didn't mean it that way at all. As for the cap trioth pointed out to you, it's a ceramic 100nF cap, it will do fine for you (I'd still reccomend a poly cap for that value though).

If you want to see it's packaging follow this link http://www.mouser.com//index.cfm?&handler=listproduct&categoryid=9&lst_pcode=2103&startrow=11 and click on the packaging next to the cap you want (although they're all the same package) so see the diagrams.
