Hi all

I have a woofer of 10 inch 4Ohm 100W(~40W RMS). It is just normal woofer which I purchased for stereo home amplifier long back.
I want to convert it to subwoofer to use it with my DIY 5.1 amplifier.

I need a ported box design for this along with port size and length of insert.
Depth must be 6-8 inch maximum (Shallow rectangle type).

This woofer is made by some local manufacturer so no details about Fs and Q factor to calculate the box volume perfectly.

Please suggest best volume and dimensions.

That's not much information to go with...Build a 1 cu.ft. box lined with wool or denim or acoustic foam, leave it sealed, and do not stuff yet. Hear it, take measurements if you can. Then stuff if needed. To vent, you will have to know what is your intended tuning frequency. Let's say it is 30Hz, you would need a 3" Dia. x 19" Round Port. This calculator will be of help.
