Cambridge Audio AXR85 balance control weirdness

Hi. I was calling all Cambridge Audio users with the latest generation of receivers the AXR series. I just got the AXR85 and it sounds great. Very full bodied warm sound. I’ve owned a few of their integrated over the years and loved them despite two dying but they were over 15 yrs old at time etc. my issue is that when I use the balance co took which is in the menu section and not an actual knob (hate that part) when I turn balance all way to either left or right I still get sound out the opposite channel.

But at what level? Balance isn't meant for completely cutting one channel, its for matching the levels when the listening area isn't symmetrical (and to correct for small differences in gain of the amp between channels). It might only allow a 10dB difference between channels - if that can't balance your levels there's probably something badly wrong with one of your speakers(!)

Amps probably had a balance potentiometer which shorts one channel to the ground when turned to its far left/right. The receiver does not seem to have a potentiometer; at least I could not see one from the photos/videos I found on the web. That probably means that the volume was done on a chip - hence limited attenuation range.

I can’t be the only person anywhere to find this weird. A Google search literally yielded nothing
At all pertaining to balance attenuation
Or volume attention for channel
