I have a JL Audio 500/1 Rev 3 that power light stays on. I have the signal sense switch off and the power light turns on with only positive and ground connected to the amp. It draws no current from my power supply and after I remove the positive from the amp it takes a few minutes for the power light to go off. The amp works fine besides this weird issue. I wondered if anybody has seen this before I spend hours tracing this down. It seems like its taking the b+ filter capacitors forever to discharge which is keeping the light on. But the power light shouldn't turn on with only positive and ground connected to the amp.
Does it follow the remote voltage, precisely or does it go high and remain high until the LED goes out?
It stays high until the remote voltage is removed. I unplugged the power from the amp and removed the top board from the bottom board just in case it wasn’t making a good contact and tried again and the voltage remains high but now the amp won’t power on at all.
So, the voltage on pin 3 was following remote high and low until you removed/reinstalled the preamp board.
Now pin 3 remains high (not following remote voltage) until the caps discharge?
Now pin 3 remains high (not following remote voltage) until the caps discharge?
On pin 2 of the connector shown previously, how does the timing on the collector of Q400 and Q401 relate to the application of the remote voltage regarding the application of remote and the switching of the transistors. The delay (or lack thereof) is what I need to know.
