Hi,

Am thinking of building a small sub using the 6.5" TangBand, but after taking a look at it's 8" brother:

http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=264-833

It has some very interesting t/s parameters, making its optimal sealed volume about 0.135cuft and vented its about 0.22cuft

Can the enclosure be really this small? Or is this some extreme case where the t/s parameter fails? It will be great if anyone with practical experience of the TB 8" can share your findings.

If the t/s parameters are correct, then I will like to try a 2xdrivers in a push-pull configuration. This should lead to a very small (10"x10"x7") and relatively vibration free box...

hi ractis

the parameter is not wrong. but i am thinking why u want a very small box. this parameter is not good for seal box. in vent box about 6 litres. f3=48 hz it's higher than fs too much. do you think that the low frequency is poor or not? if u don't want the low frequency more than this . u can build this project that u think.

:)

might have to Return it for the 2" or is the 3" Right?
It is probably a little large diameter wise, but that is not a bad thing. Those drivers move a lot of air and having a little oversized diameter port will probably eliminate the chance of port "chuffing"

If you use WinISD it will help you figure out the correct diameter to keep the port airspeed below the level that causes "chuffing" or download this handy port sizing/flare calculator
