One room is only 14 x 9 but may try them on my main rig which is a lot larger 25 x 14

If you want to listen fairly loud in your big room, FHXL would be my choice. If not FH3 would be ok, but you can't push them too hard in a big room. Also depends on the driver in question too.

Not really bothered about being loud just not sounded lost as such if I use them in the bigger room. Sounds like the light's would be a better choice for the small room.

The FH3 uses 4" drivers and the FH-Lite uses 3" drivers; both the FH3 and the FH-Lite would work in your 14' x 9' room.

What sort of musical genres do you usually listen to?

Everything really, getting more into jazz as I've got older.

Girl and guitar, acoustic, smooth jazz, small jazz ensembles, vocal music - these genres can play nicely at moderate volumes with a single modestly sized wide-band driver speaker like the FH3. If you are more into rock and heavier genres, then in my experience cone area matters, and woofer support makes a difference.

Thanks for the replies, it looks like it's going to be the FH3. Already have the wood and some damping just need the drivers, thinking of using Pluvia 7.2.

Lite - MA 5.2/3/CHN50.Fostex FF85wk, Faital Pro 3Fx

Some of those drivers benefit from some simple tweeks.

Not sure… A7ms has more top end issues, a couple thinned coats of arcylic Gloss goes a wasy to solving that.

A7ms, in theory, should be more resolving, but P7HDis a solid choice, the resurrection of the A7,3 in th wenew basket.

Yes I did see the MOAP 7 but I thought I have to balance the build based on end use and front end equipment. Really looking forward to the build and to test the finished boxes.

Chris & i just spent the afternoon playing with REW and the miniDSP.

If you are lucky Chrios will post some graphs.

Basically the FF85wKeN in FH-Lite was close to ruler flat from 500-9Khz, with some room humps and dips below that. Top rolled gently down some dB by 20KHz.

woofer is the brown Trianguaklr columns/wedges in the back.

Bass in room at teh listening position, produced bass down quite low, into the 40s. Adding the woofer did not ad dmuch extention but boy did it bring authority.

Frustratingly, the entire batch of this afternoon’s multiple REW measurements seemed to have gang aft a-gley, and I’m not sure when another traveling road show can be arranged.
All that I can say is that the little FF85WK still sounds quite engaging, and an SDX7 per side certainly adds some heft and authority to the bottom couple of octaves.
