Hi All,

I received the funish TDA1541a kits already.

although factory test already, I still need to spend 12 hours to running for them( everyone ) for the stability or not.

Kits supply to Market will 2005-04-22. (Friday)

This is every kits contain.

PCB
-----
4( Four ) pieces of Plasma Spark shine Blue colour PCB.
Two will all factory funish & two will Blank.

1. Twin TDA1541a PCB fully funish & test already.
Parts- Diode was Vishay -telefunken BYV-27-150
(Ultra-fast soft receovery diodes)

REGULATOR ICs LT1033 & 1057.

TDA1541a Decoupling caps was ERO MKP1813.
Extra 28 pcs 1541a decoupling caps Philips Holland MKT will follow with kit ( use in the Marantz CD94 types) & 28 pcs of the Wima MKP10 will follow with kits for diyer to exchange for their taste.

All 'E' caps was Sanyo OS-CON,Elna, Nichicon Fine, Gold , Muse,Purism Non-polar caps.

All the small watts resistors was KOA Low ppm resistors.
Large watts was NOS Western electric, Dale, CGW & telefunken

Diyers can choose CS-8412 ( USD 10 more) or 8414 version.

All fit with gold plated IC Sockets.

Use Pulse engineer PE-65612 pulse Transformer for digital input.

Cable from RCA input to PE-65612 is Gotham Prof. 10070 silver digital cable.


2. Op-amp output stage PCB.

Parts- Diode was Vishay -telefunken BYV-27-150
(Ultra-fast soft receovery diodes)

REGULATOR ICs LT1033 & 1057.
All 'E' the caps was Sanyo OS-CON,Elna, Nichicon Fine, Gold , Muse,Purism Non-polar caps.

The output caps was the best Gold Purism +125 degree caps.

Small watts resistors was KOA Low ppm resistors.

Large watts was NOS Western electric, Dale, CGW & telefunken.

One pair BB Op2604 with gold plated IC sockets.

3. Tube Buffer PCB need diyers funished by themselves.

Diode was Vishay -telefunken BYV-56G or .
(Ultra-fast soft receovery diodes)

REGULATOR ICs LT1033 & 1057 for tube filament.

can use Battery bias or Smooth choke.

All 'E' the caps was Elna, Nichicon Fine, Gold , Muse,Purism Non-polar caps. Especially the purism Non-polar caps for tube cathode. Unless U use the Battery, otherwise will not better than use this caps.

Output Caps was USA EC MKP Caps. 600V 0.47 uf.

Large watts was NOS Western electric, Dale, CGW & TFK.

Tube Sockets was Japan style silver Plated ceremic tube sockets.

One NOS Miniwatt Dario EZ80 was follow with kit.

4. Blank Multi -adapter PCB ( Free to diyers)
-------------------------------------------------------

PCB contain 8 pcs of Blank small PCBs.
Two was 74HC74 & 74HC4040 reclock.
Two 8414 to 8412 adapter.
Four(4) single op-amp to dual op-amp. Diyers can personal buy Op-2134,627,637 for the op-amp output stage.
Directly Plug & Play is OK.

Power Transformers
--------------------------
5. Three 3 pcs of C-core power transformers with double shielding.
Pls see the photos, U will interest why the sec
winding had 0~4~5 & 0~6.3. This is special for Diyer because
they can do it by yourself for the tube buffer PCB which
change 4V (RGN1064, AZ1, AZ11 mesh plate) etc, 5V ( 5V4,
5Z3) & standard follow with kit is 6X4.

Solder wire for kit.
-----------------------
2 metre of this solder wire.

Senju Lead free & Ag-Cu-Sn solder will follow with kit for diyer. I trust that solder will effect the performace & for diyer solder Gotham silver digital cable & signal cable.


Diyers can choose Added USD 20 for one match pair Dario Miniwatt EC8010 Gold pins to relief the 6C45, but a little re-work was require..but NOS EC8010 gold pins will much better than 6C45!!!!!

Cable for kit

Digital cable.

1.5 feet Gotham 10070 Prof. digital silver cable.

1M ATM KA Japan mic cable ( very smooth sound)

1M Belden Silver plated signal cable ( more detail HF sound)
or
IM Japan Junkosha silver signal cable. This is a ultra fast digital Transmittion cable.I test they both good in Digital or the analoue output.

Hi,

I forgot to tell U that the price of the kit is USD330 per set. chassis is not include into it. But 3 price of C-core power transformers is include.
Price edited on tube-lover's request.

All parts contain will be same as the previous thread contain./

USD 330 will include postage. No handling charge or service charge.
Hong Kong People local purchase will same price but addition 2 pair of OPA627 for them to compensate the postage which for overseas.

Hi,

yesterday night I compare the ver2 DAC with the marantz cda94 & CD72Mk2.

Test equipment was Altec 604B with electrostatic ultra high tweeter.
Electronic crossover.
Mac MC240 push low HF. Sun audio VT25/45 push HF.

I would like to say the result was very impressed. Although the ver2 was NOs DAC. CDA94 & 72Mk2 had re-clock. But the deatil was still best. especially the density of the mid-range. CD72mk2 & CDA94 is much weaker than ver2. This is only test with both op-amp output. I had not enough to test with the tube buffer. If use tube buffer,. much colour will added for the sound stage.

BTW, there will had several sound test show room on Kowloon & Hong Kong side. Location will post soon. This is best for Local ( Hong kong ) diyers.

Dear all,

I would like to say the improvement parts of Ver.2 DAC use.

TDA1541a PCB:
--------------------

1. Digital input cable from RCA to PCB.

Gotham Professional digital cable (1 feet).
GAC-1 S/PDIF-Pro (10070) Silvercable.

2. use Pulse transfromer to input.

Pulse engineer PE-65612.

3. All TDA1541a Decoulping caps was ERO MKP1813 0.1uf 250V.
Use ERO MKP1813 0.1uf had faster refresh rate. It can
increase the detail of the 1541a chips. But........ every kit I will
follow with 28 pcs MKT 0.22 caps made in Holland which
standard use in the Marantz CD94 use for 1541a decoupling
caps. If U like them Not need to pay more money. U will get
them because this is free with the kit. ( actually its funish &
test, QC pass alrerady).

4. All 28 pcs of ERO will use Aluminium foil to shield for them, The
ground point was in the middle of the PCB which had same
distance for two chips. Ground or unGround. U decision
only!!!!!!

5. Every TDA1541a will use Copper foil to shield for them, U can
choose ground or un-ground.

6. The regulate IC. Funished kit was LT-1033 &
1085 for 1541a to supply a high speed & low internal
resistance power supply to increase the HF & detail. certainly
lower the noise too.

7. In this I would like to say very thanks for diyers in this forum
because they advise me to use this diode. excellent in this
area.
Rectifier diode for standard funish kit was Vishay telefunken
BYV-27-150 & Myv56( Ultra fast soft receovery diode). Most diyer like the rectifier diode very fast but will get more noise same time.
This BYV is much better than UF, MUR & MBR series.

8. The ground plate area hadn't decrease. But the small
blank area between the signal path & ground plate was
increase a little to prevent the capacitiance to pollute the
data steam. The small un-ground area ( copper plate ) on the
PCB was removed already to prevent the -RF- etc in the air to
effect the data steam because the un-ground copper plate
was same as ---Antenna-- will absorb the RF in the air.

9. Ver.1 most use dale 1% in the 1541a PCB but ver.2 I
suggested use low ppm resistors. same was 1% KOA series.
Now only the top model Precision series was made in japan.
The middle grade was I choose low ppm series was made in
China. So I can get them in reasonable price & use in the
Ultimate DAC.

10. Power supply. Ver.1 I use one R-core power transformer to
supply both 1541a & Op-amp PCB. Now I seperate for them.
Every PCB, ( 1541a & Op-amp) will seperate use one C-core
power trans for them, individual regulate IC( LT-1033 & 1085).
Seperate BYV27-150.
(It means every funish will follow with 3 pcs of C-core power
transformers) Pls see the photos, U will interest why the sec
winding had 0~4~5 & 0~6.3. This is special for Diyer because
they can do it by yourself for the tube buffer PCB which
change 4V (RGN1064, AZ1, AZ11 mesh plate) etc, 5V ( 5V4,
5Z3) & standard follow with kit is 6X4 & added USD 10 for
one NOS Miniwatt Dario EZ80.

11. Signal output cable.
Standard analog output cable is Belden telfon silver coated
cable to increase the HF of the signal because some people
said the non-oversampling DAC had small lack of HF. But
don't worry. I will can supply the Japn ATM KA OFC Mic cable
with funish kits. 2 feets which will not charge any more
money.

Hi,

this price was for 10sets only. over 10sets will return to USD 330 per set. This funish set was OEM, funish & test from Taiwan.

This is a funish kit, only the tube buffer PCB need funished by yourself.

U can cost half an hour to link up the power trans with the twins 1541a PCB with digital input wire, signal wire output & OPA-2604 PCB. can direcly sounded.

The tube buffer cost 2 hour to funish.

So U will get two dac. One is Op-amp output, one is tube output.

For example. A- 1541a PCB.
B- Opa-2604 PCB
C- Tube Buffer PCB.

sound with this format.

A+B or A+C.


Hong Kong will had several location for diyers, traveller to Hong kong to test & hear the performance.

I received several email ask me can directly use I2S input from CD-pro2.

It can because MY DAC had I2s input, pls see the photos.

Default Physical dimension of PCBs?

Hi Thomas, thank you for your effort on the nice DAC.

We are designing new CD-PRO2 Player/transport enclosure using your DAC.

Would you please let me know the physical dimensions (size in cm) of PCBs since we have to decide which PCBs are enclosed in our transport?
