I made a pair of cases for Dan (dan1502) and there has been interest from several others. The following shows the specifications, photos of the finished product and during design and manufacture.

The finishng and anodising was performed by Alpha anodising and is the same as DCS components (who use Alpha anodising). Alpha have worked with Naim for over 20 years and we were shown parts from the £125,000 statement amplifier when we visited. The quality of finish is superb. dCS | Only The Music

There is a choice of black or silver as per the DCS Vivaldi and other components.

The final case specifications are:

  • Components mounted upside down for clean look
  • Discrete machined logo on rear
  • Radius edges for an ultra smooth look
  • Bespoke machined feet
  • 20mm Side, front and internal wall thicknesses
  • Shielding walls between power, NCore module and SMPS compartments
  • Raised earth points
  • Built in earthed stand-off for SMPS earthed corner
  • Contact points between bottom cover and case for Faraday cage effect
  • Venting slots under power supply
  • 3mm front LED whole with flush light pipe
  • Balanced input (RCA convertor may be used with non-balanced pre-amps)
  • 2 pairs of speaker outputs for bi (or tri) wiring
  • IEC mains input – will fit Schaffner filter or standard IEC socket
  • High quality stainless steel push button latching power switch (not supplied)
  • Recesses for rear switch, mains input and XLR input
  • Screw holes for mains and XLR inputs threaded - no need for nuts
Dimensions:

Height including feet: 81 mm
Height without feet: 70 mm
Width: 225 mm
Depth excluding binding posts: 267 mm
Depth including binding posts: 312 mm (approx)

Weight: >5Kg each

The cases would be supplied with the light pipe and nylon stand-offs fitted and with machine screws needed for the feet and base.

Dan has put a parts list together and has quite a lot of extra parts due to having had to order more than required which should save a lot of hassle.

The price is £1,300 with a minimum run of 5 pairs. This would reduce to £1,250 if 10 pairs are ordered for a single run. This price is collected from Stoke-on-Trent. Delivery would be charged at cost price. A 50% deposit will be required due to the cost of materials and time commitment.
