Don't worry brianco, the first VSSA release will stay kis but not one bit simpler than that. So all of you will have opportunity to taste it like it is here by me. For the second release, if it will be any, we could talk about some minor changes mainly to fulfill someone's personal taste.

I'm pretty lucky to have ordered these ALFET's as Farnell is already out of them I was ready to assemble, but I'm waiting for PCB right now !

Yes, it meets my criteria completely. Let me just tell you what can be noticed clearly from the same DAC output. I use media renderer for hi-res network music streaming and this one has S/PDIF and I2S on board output and with VSSA it is obvious like day/night when one or another is in use, of course in a favour to I2S.

Tyimo, I biased for the test and stability purpose to 1 A and it was OK. So if you like to have very HOT VSSA just go for it.
Thanks Lazy Cat! That's fine.

just getting together a list of components to built this excellent amplifier. Can you tell me:

the 22pF capacitors, ceramic do?
1F capacitors, will polyester do, or will polyprop be sonically better?
If I separate the power supply to the first stage, what should I run the input transistors off, ~7v?
Can I uprate the 2.2mF caps to 4.7mF, which then keeps the same impedance of each device the same as the other 1mF caps?

I intent to run separate N and P output trans (The ALF08 ones) and make the amplifier on vero board, with separate power supplies to each section.

kindest regards
Cats

do you mean bigger the better or room on the board?

and do we know what value fuse to have, assume 4 ohm 'speakers ? [Voltage on output pair will be 42 v, off power]
and what size heat sinks for the Vas and output trannies?
