I optimised the crossover for ca. 15° off axis. Straight on axis there are some bumps that disappear off axis.

Yes, I usually do the same.

I like the very simple, but yet nicely done filter design.

What I don't like is the low sensitivity! It's to low for my taste and I think the 4 ohm version is a better choice for a small stand-mount monitor.

I think the 8 ohm version would be great for a small 2.5-way floor-stander.

Have you done any distortion tests on the finished design in order to see how the tweeter copes with the low cross-over point and shallow slope?

Regards

/Göran

Thanks, yes there is a price to pay for 8 Ohm and the slim baffle.
Anyway, we have the 4 Ohm version in the Guru clone and i can make a 4 Ohm version for the slim cabinet.
I will build a second speaker today and i will also fit the crossovers so i can listen and measure.

I have now build a pair that works. I know, pride stinks, but they look really classy on the stands in my listening room.
I will now listen but not very loud. It is late here.
I will let them run in over night and listen more, also at high volume, tomorrow.

It's easy to lower port resonance, just inlay some foam at the sides to narrow the port a bit...but 51 HZ is not that bad. better to have the speaker do what it does good, than to have it try to do something it cannot...!!

I have now setup the speakers and i have listened quite a bit. I am very impressed about what i hear. This is certainly a low distortion, low energy storage speaker.
The cabinet is superbly quiet and the image is totally free of the speakers unless the signal is pan potted close up straight into left or right, the way it should be but rarely happens. I will tell you more soon.

I use a Wire World Gold Eclipse AES-EBU cable into the Mace Digital Pre. The MACE has an on board DA converter and a relay controled line stage.

The cable between the Mace and the QUAD is a Wire World Silver Elipse.
