Great news, I can not wait to get those babies ;-)
400 watt is plenty for most purposes

Yes, but 1200W is a must for better dynamic headroom in the bass region. That said, both UcD400 and DS4.0 sub-amp is enough for most subwoofers out there. I managed to almost destroy a SEAS L26ROY driver in a 40 litre cabinet with passive radiator using a Hypex DS4.0. 400W is plenty - to some degree :-))

Default dimensions ?

Hi Bruno,

what are the dimensions of the nc400 and the smps ?

no need to be accurate. I understand if you'd rather wait till the final released versions.

I only ask as I'd like to source an enclosure, but don't want to get something too small.

Fantastic work, thanks so very much for making a DIY version !

I look forward to building a pair of these amps. i assume the smps is for a mono-block.

please take your time to get everything right, I'm happy to wait for any extra month or two. Will give me more time to same some money. (we'll see if i need to use euro's or dollars or francs or .....)

Gareth.

(i'm not sure if i should get a new pre-amp too, the one i have is not balanced. I have seen the musical fidelity a1-bpa being sold off in the uk. )

If you need 30 dB headroom.... most of us do not.

I suppose nc400 (400 watts) will be the minimum of the series? There wont be any 180 version like ucd to people that wanna go active multi-way?

400 watts for my tweeters is way too much

If you read through the thread you'll see that the nc400 is the (only) diy nc module planned

Your woofer excursions, thermal power handling, and frequency dependant sensitivity are your determinants of bass headroom, unless you're chasing flatness to 5hz with .8 Q sealed subs. At VLF your best bet is to throw more surface area at the problem, not more heat.
