That is a small standby pcb for the Hypex smps ucd ncore range.

Can be used with a momentary or latching low power switch. It controls the standby input of the smps and ampon pin of the ucd/ncore

Some amps behave better with regulated switching supplies because better regulation, some worse, because poor HF rejection and IM with the switching frequency.
Audiophiles love to make blind generalizations and believe in magic. So easy to associate big AC transformers and big caps with top quality. :-)

I am open for everything! And as I have stated previously my NCore sounds really good with the SMPS.
