One more thing I tried is a pair of crappy earphones with a measured DCR on L & R of 32R and the listening loudness is between 9:00 to about 11:30 on all the players mentioned.

I forgot to address this...my 2 stereo amps connected in bi-amp are 33k and 47k input impedances.

I'm thinking just the electronics kit part without the chassis/hardware, as mentioned in the article. I'm putting together at least 2 kits initially and will post about it soon. Thanks!

I went under the hood last weekend and went thru 6 LDR levels using 1mV LED supply steps (very doable with a steady hand and a voltmeter of course), and a high of 0.231dB/step and a low of 0.141dB/step volume level resolution were noted...

"Appreciation of audio is a completely subjective human experience. Measurements can provide a measure of insight, but are no substitute for human judgment. Why are we looking to reduce a subjective experience to objective criteria anyway? The subtleties of music and audio reproduction are for those who appreciate it. Differentiation by numbers is for those who do not." — Nelson Pass

Another pearl of wisdom from NP as quoted in the PL INT-30A review at 6moons...

People who believe in their ears in defiance of the measurement are the same that those who prefer the religion to faith!
