I've created this thread to get input from everyone on changing the base DIY Enclosures models to be adopted and best accommodate Pass Labs projects. Alright... I admit I myself have taken the SET path, but once I have a prototype, I'm going to have to break-down and build an Aleph-J.
What we're looking for here, is mainly heatsink design and integration. My first question, is must the circuit boards be connected directly with the FET's? Because if not, we can mount the FET's on a heatsink that sits outside of the chassis itself, kinda like an "H" style sink. |

Holy crap, you are still alive!!! Your website seems to be totally blank and I assumed you have stopped building enclosures for us. Can I still get your previous designs?

The website will be down until I have a solid plan to turn out some samples for the parts vendors. The chassis will now instead be sold through another company willing to take inventory of them and sell them. Please see the original thread for ramping up the business again! matsj,
I am sorry but I am not at that point of re-introducing the product. We are discussing what changes should be made to the base designs to better accommodate the Pass Labs DIY amps. Please see the internet archive if you'd like to see what they were previously: DIY Enclosures LLC - Chassis -MW |

Do the FET or power devices need to be mounted by pcb directly to the heatsinks, or can the power devices be mounted to the heatsink remotely? IE leads from the pcb. Of course you'd want them to be minimal length, but again, I am wondering if the heatsink's surface must be directly integrated to a side panel or inside of it. If leads are okay, then you could potentially have better heat dissipation.
Thanks, -MW |

PCB directly onto the heatsink, wiring can cause stibility problems. The heatsink should 'be' the side panel for maximum convection, never inside, not enough air flow. |

Good news!
I am working on an extrusion profile that should integrate nicely with the diyenclosures chassis. There will be some small drawbacks where your own diy minor machining is required, but it is very minimal. It would be - drill one hole to reach one chassis PEM nut, and drill your own mount points for the power components. The heatsink would replace the diyenclosures sidewalls directly. -MW |
