Default Buffalo III as a 4 AES/EBU input 8 channel DAC possible?

Excuse me if I am missing the point, but is only one input at a time useable simultaneously with the Buffalo III?
I am looking for a 4x simultaneous stereo differential AES/EBU input to 8 balanced output DAC (Studio DAW usage)

I suppose I could run four Opus or COD boards off one power supply to achieve this

Yes, on the 9018 S/PDIF input is limited to stereo. The differential AES/EBU version of it is no exception.
