I would like to add s/pdif to my chipamp and need help to understand what is needed to add two s/pdif inputs, one or two rca inputs, a selector.

Which dac, psu, volume control selector? How are the tied together?

and how it is connected to the amp? Could someone please explain it and what products are needed?

Thank You.

You need a complete DAC.

If you want more than one SPDIF input (up to 4) you will need a SPIDF receiver like our MUX, and a DAC like our Opus, COD, or if you want to go al the way, Buffalo II. If you only need one input you can simply use the Buffalo II on it own. You will also need an output stage like the IVY-III. And power supplies like the Placid and the Placid BP. Combine and pour into a suitable case then garnish with wiring and connectors and you have your finished DAC. You can then use that with your amp. :)

Please explain the differences between the Opus, COD and the Buffalo II.

They employ different DAC chips.

Opus is WM8741 and is voltage output. It takes PCM or DSD input.
COD is PCM1794 and is current output. It takes PCM input.
Buffalo II is ES9018 and it can be treated as either a current source or a voltage source. It takes PCM, DSD or SPDIF input.

All three will benefit greatly from the IVY-III output stage.
