I am very curious about this as well.

Could something like this be used, just taking the I2S directly from the XMOS to the Buff II?

Looking for the ultimate USB-I2S interface this option was considered, but they want a ridiculous amount of money for the windows driver. No problem for MAC.

Since I have a Mac, and want I2S out to a Buff II, this costs about the same as a hiface. Any disadvantages, or unsuspected mods necessary? I am not so good with complex digital circuitry...although I can figure out where the I2S out is and jump it.

Does the Buffalo 2 accept 176.4khz sampling rate over S/PDIF? I would like to use it for PS3 - and this is the rate it outputs when bitmapping CD's and converting SACD to PCM.

Yes any sample rate up to (and actually slightly beyond) 192/24 can be input via SPDIF

The bummer is that SPDIF only supports up to 24bit data. Not really a big deal though.

I have used sample rates up to 384khz 32bit via I2S.

I am still a little confused as to the advantages/disadvantages of the IVY III vs the Legato. Need to buy one and can't decide which. Thanks for input!

Hi, Russ,

How is the progress of your product development of XMOS-based USB interface?
Can I expect your new product announce this year?
