Whats the point in connecting pin1 to circuitry GND? Would'nt it make sense to connect it to the chassis only?

I recently received Jan Didden's Silent Switcher power supply and plan to try it with the Retro. Wondering how much current the Retro uses I measured it. Both boards measured under 34 mA positive and negative. Playing a record did not seem to change the measurement.

Final current draw will vary based on the input impedance of the next stage. If you drive headphones (lower impedance), it will be slightly higher.

Hello,
Can you explain the cable connection?
Thank you in advance
