Amadeus how did you do the triode mod? I really want to bypass the volume pot as well but I'm a total diy noob. Will a blob of decent solder across the pot prongs do the trick? And which prongs should I solder (looking at them from the prong side)?
Also do you live in Auckland? I live near Piha. I'll pay you in beer to do the mods for me lol.
No, I live in the Western Bay of Plenty. Got severe arthritis and do not undertake work for others, sorry. The connection between the grid (g2) to B+ has to be broken and then a small resistor (100 - 1K) been soldered between the g2 on the tube socket and the plate on the tube socket.

If you want to be a purist then the CCS can be replaced with a simple 270 Ohm resistor (leaving the capacitor in place) but it is not necessary since the CCS appears to be set to just the correct current. The CCS has an effect on the clipping though.

What is the reasoning behind wanting to bypass the potentiometer - you can just turn it full volume and then ignore it?

I had one of these a while ago and after bypassing the pot the difference was startling. Imaging, presence and texture were twice as good as just having it turned all the way up. Unfortunately the amp died so I'm going to try it all over again. Fingers crossed this one doesn't cark it.

My APPJ EL84 SE mini Tube Amp, PA0901A has arrived
Wonderful tube amp for the money! Very happy with it.
I'll wait to get more ours before making a final review, but so far I like it a lot more than Pass Camp Amp.
I love coming back to tubes... they do many things so right that I have long missed that sound.
Thanks Tony for this wonderful little amp

One question regarding the headphone adapter box:
It seems to be an option to buy something more than just the adapter, I mean looking at the box and the two compartments inside.
Do they come with cables or some other unit as an option?
Thank you.

Just to clarify, assembled? Is it possible to buy this without the case?

Hello,

No, the amps are assembled by APPJ. You can buy the assembled or finished amp.

Thanks,
Tony.

I think what Tony meant was that it's a finished product, you can't assemble it yourself.
It comes assembled from APPJ factory.
Am I right Tony?
